Exhibition of historical advertising motifs and lots of extras at Forum Duisburg

From 20th May through 5th June, 2010, the Forum Duisburg will be displaying historic advertising posters from more than 100 years of brand history. The exhibits, presented by courtesy of the Duisburg-based company Deutsche Sinalco GmbH Markengetränke & Co. KG, include works by renowned artists from all art movements and periods – from Art Nouveau to Art Deco to Pop Art.

The bright yellow colour, the uniquely shaped bottle with its red circle, and the distinct jingle: 91% of the Germans recognize Sinalco. In the 50’s through 70’s, Sinalco came to be used as a generic term for soft drinks. This success was no doubt to some extent attributable to the catchy jingle from the Flea Waltz “Die Sinalco schmeckt”. Another key factor for the brand’s success, however, was also the innovative art of poster design that Sinalco quickly harnessed for marketing purposes. With motifs invariably reflecting the spirit of the time, the posters came to span a wide variety of styles and movements over the course of time.

The exhibition will be presented from 20.05. through 05.06.2010 at Forum Duisburg, award winner of the 2010 European Shopping Center Award with ReSource distinction for sustainable development. Presenting posters from more than 100 years of advertising for Sinalco, the exhibition shows a selection from the Sinalco ART-Tour first presented in October 2007 in Duisburg. At the time, approximately 80 historical advertising posters had been retouched, restored, framed, catalogued, and made accessible to the public.

A wealth of extras makes the exhibition a truly exciting experience:

The Cinema Corner will be running Sinalco TV and cinema commercials from the past 50 years.
The Cocktail Bar will present Sinalco cocktails for you to sample in the afternoons of 20th through 22th May, 27th through 29th May, 4th and 5th June 2010, at fair prices.
Kiddies’ Arts & Crafts activities offered on weekends will also focus on the Sinalco theme.
And on top of all this, there will be Prize Draws offering attractive prizes.
The „SinalcoNight” grand finale on 05.06.2010 starting at 9:30 p.m., also staged at Forum Duisburg, is a Party featuring Mixed Music organised in cooperation with virtualnights.com.
